Tarantino inspired fun western with flaws
First of all, the poor reviews saying it's a "Tarantino ripoff" really make me laugh. The film has fight sequences that are heavily Tarantino inspired, particularly from Django Unchained. This is true. However, if that makes this film a "rip off", then what does that make Django Unchained, a movie that took heavily from Sergio Corbucci's films - particularly "Django", where he used the exact same soundtrack, same character name, similar hyper violent shootouts, et cetera. In short, ignore those individuals for their asinine takes. This film does take inspiration from Tarantino, but it does more than enough to stand on its own. Is it a ground breaking western? Not really. But the cast and variety of characters make it a very fun time with entertaining action. Where it really faltered, for me, was some of the editing in terms of cuts were just weird. As an example: there is a scene where a character busts through the top floor window of an establishment and lands on the floor, and then it immediately cuts to a cowboy finishing walking downstairs. It was so jarring that I had to rewind it and watch it again to make sure that those two people were the same person, which they were, yet the cut was so abrupt that it made it feel like this character damn near teleported to get from point A to point B. That example of several instances like that. It can make it feel choppy and confusing. Overall though, despite its cliches, it's a fun, enjoyable film.
