    Unexpectedly brilliant
I'd not heard of the movie until my partner said 'I've heard good things about this movie' and promptly pressed play. I was really surprised as he is not really a Christmas fan or a interested in musicals, but I'm so glad he opted to give it a go.

The movie moves at a good pace, is funny and entertaining from the start. It however builds and more entertaining as it goes on. The story starts to unfold and the songs get better and better. My personal favourites are of course 'Good Afternoon' but also 'Ripple'.

Will and Ryan are a great double act which works really well. I was surprised at how good their singing and dancing is, but honestly the rest of the cast stole the show when it comes to talent in this area, just brilliant.

I'm also not a particular fan of musicals but honestly I'm hooked on this one. I've now watched it 7 times in a month and it never fails to make me smile and cheer my up.

It was better the second time, I think because I knew what I was watching. I'm looking forward to December 2023 so I can watch it a few more times !

A massive train wreck that almost never ends
The idea for the movie is not a bad one, putting a twist on the classic. The execution is the problem, and it results in the pure defilement of a beloved and treasured story. This first became obvious when the ghost of Christmas past sleeps with the person they are trying to help. Disgusting, twisted, not funny, stupid..you name it. There are many negative adjectives that could be used to describe this sprawling train wreck that tries to do too much and succeeds at little. Our leads are the crass, child-like senior Will Ferrel, and the perennially sarcastic jerk, Ryan Reynolds. Mix in a few diversity check-box actors and away we go. The only bright spots for me were contained in some of the musical numbers (Pasek and Paul from La la land), although they didn't fit the movie well neither can the leads sing. I give most of the credit to the elaborate production design and the dancers. Yes, the dancers were the best part. So if you want to see a crappy defilement of a beloved classic with some good dancing thrown in, this is for you.
