Sort of like Rocky 3... which wasnt very good
Another guy shows up from out of no where and immediately becomes a contender for the championship. The movie has a lot of similarities with the 3rd Rocky movie where his opponent is Mr. T. In both, the champ loses his edge and has to find it again. Its the same Eye of the Tiger story minus the iconic song which was probably the best part of the movie.

I wasnt a big fan of Rocky 3 myself. For me it was a low effort movie that shouldn't have been made. Creed 3 has more depth but it still felt rather random and contrived. It felt like a cash grab from start to finish, rather than a labor of love by anyone involved which is really too bad.

Watch it for the adrenaline rush and keep your expectations low.

3rd In The Trilogy Had More Potential
Creed 3 directed by and starring Michael B Jordan has a backstory which drives the narrative of the film. A character from Creeds youth returns and the film highlights the impact this has on his life. Watching this i really did feel this film had the potential to be great, however everything feels a little flat. The training scenes have no life and i did not like what they did with elements of the final fight. This is a rare occasion where i think the film could have benefitted from being longer. Everything in the present seems to happen in a hurry. Emotionally the film is trying to touch the audience but again this comes across as forced. The standout scene for me was the confrontation on the beach as we really see what drives Creeds old friend Damien, and we as an audience really could have done with seeing this motivation elaborated upon and played out longer. There are no weak performances in the film and everything is solid however good rather than great for a franchise like the Rocky franchise ultimately feels like a bit of a let down.

    Another entertaining entry
Another entertaining entry from this franchise.

I do enjoy these 'Rocky'/'Creed' flicks, they always tend to bring enjoyable performances and excellent fight scenes - and 'Creed III' delivers in those aspects, alongside others. It is a shame, though, that they couldn't get Sylvester Stallone involved here.

In fairness, however, I wouldn't necessarily say the film is weaker or anything without Stallone - it just would've been nice to see him reprise his role, that's all. Cast-wise, it is as strong as you would expect. Michael B. Jordan is impressive, while Tessa Thompson is good (if somewhat underused). It's a shame that Jonathan Majors has ruined his own career off reel because that guy has quite the screen presence, hey-ho!

I'm kinda interested in further installments, though at the same time it would be good if they kept this as a three-film thing. But, hey, the original titular character got 6 movies so I guess the current main man deserves a couple more, eh? Intrigued to see where they go with it, all the same.
