To all the mothers, to all the sons
Why no one ever told me this is an amazing movie for mother and son evenings? Well, in case you didn't knew it too, I'm telling you right now. If you're the mother of the son, or several sons, watch it together. If you're a son with a mother (or several), go and watch it together. It's very bounding, beautiful and exciting.

My teenager was just slightly displeased with my sense of humor. In the scene where Paul screams at his mother, using the Voice, I couldn't help but imitate immortal legend Alan Rickman and his fantastic: "You dare use my own spells against me, Potter?" Just could't help myself, found it extremely funny. My son hasn't forgiven me fully yet, but I'm sure we will be fine after watching the second part.

    Fate can change
It turns out that prophecy can be changed, the savior can, and people are very ordinary, so it is even more okay 1. Only 1/3 of a person's life is determined at birth, and the rest has the times and personal efforts, not just believing in fate, but respecting it and then changing it 2. The other is that the strong do not fight for honor, but accept the responsibility when it comes, and people should take responsibility well 3. In addition, the law of desert survival is: the strong survive The prophecy said that the good friend was a good teammate and would teach him how to survive, but that friend wanted to kill him in reality, but he also told him through this duel that only the strong could survive, this time the prophecy was accurate, but it was true in a different way, it can be seen that the enemy is sometimes a friend, the person who teaches us things, but the person who helps us.

    4. The strong survive, and the weak deserve to die, and the world has always been the law of the jungle.

    The worst of them all
As a fan of old movie and mini series I was disappointed and bored to sleep. For me the casting for 3 of the main characters is the most horrible casting I have ever seen.

Young Paul and lady Jessica looks like they will go to bed right here, right now. There is no chemistry where it should be. Young Paul and Lady Jessica are like small children in front of Boogie man. I have never even imagined it is possible for hate Dune movie. Now it is a reality.

The story is made too slow even for Dune.

In few words slow, boring, with awful cast. Shame for the money, time and work put in it.

    P. S. - I am giving it 3 stars for the effort in effects.

    The best modern Sci-Fi yet
Dune (2021) is an absolutely stunning and engaging film that takes the viewer on a journey to a futuristic world full of intrigue, conflict, and wonder. The actors are excellent and bring the complex characters to life in a convincing way. The special effects are impressive and add an extra dimension to the film.

The story of Dune is excellent and keeps the viewer captivated from start to finish. The world created in the book is unique and fascinating, with a wealth of cultures, customs, and histories. The themes of the film, such as colonialism, identity, and power dynamics, are timely and stay with the viewer after the film has ended.

The cast of the movie has been carrefully selected with names like Timothée Chamelet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac and Stellan Skarsgård. All actors capable of speaking more than 1 languege wich creates better sounding and more immersing characters.

The movie does a realy good job into telling the power struggles of the houses under the kingdom. All the while the houses and the kingdom turn hostile towards the main protagonist.

The only negative aspects i can think of is that the film doesnt work well as a standalone as it only covers the first half of the book. I realy hope that there comes a part two!

Game of Thrones meets Lawerence of Arabia, in space, on drugs.
This movie is rad. Denis Villenueve kinda killed it with this one. As a fan of the book and his filmography I trust him completely to adapt this material. I do urge viewers who are going in to this flick without much familiarity, to acknowledge that this is very much a Part 1. It may feel like there is no real resolution but you can't do DUNE in one movie, you just can't. This story needs time to be as fleshed put as it can be.

On another note if you want more from this world and it's ideas, I strongly recommend reading the book by Frank Herbert. The films will unfortunately never be able to capture the writing's depth, complexity, and minutiae. After all they face the daunting task of selling tickets to current audiences.

    Jon's Review of Dune
Dune is a visually stunning movie... I can't help but compare it to Lawrence of Arabia; the blue eyes, the desert sands and the wars are elements that help to link the visual masterpieces. I am not being hyperbolic with my phrasing...

The pacing seemed deliberate but it didn't feel slow; it, on the other hand, felt comfortable and comforting...

The acting was good... The dialogue seemed natural; I didn't notice any contrived dialogue. I, genuinely, like Zendaya's acting; she seems to work hard...

The cast was full of "big names" but Stellan Skarsgård, in particular, was unrecognizable. Dave Bautista's character, Beast Rabban Harkonnen, seemed to be a mirror image of his, Drax the Destroyer, Marvel character... Javier Barden was solidly understated.

Supporters of The Greatest Showman may recognize Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya...

    Epic story
Allow me to start off by saying this is a genuine review. It seems some are rightly questioning the legitimacy of some reviews. I wonder the same myself. But I am not a shill for the director, producer, or production company. In fact, I vacillated whether or not I even wanted to watch the movie.

I'm glad I did: All star cast; great locations; excellent cinematography; stellar acting; and epic story. I understand CGI is necessary on a film like this but it was very well done. After I watched it the first time I immediately watched it again.

I am now looking forward to the second installment of the movie. Can't wait!

    Dune - the sloppy cliffhanger
Looking forward to this adaptation of the phenomenal story of Dune, has been years of waiting.

Expectations of mine was high and for all reasons.

The cast would rival any box office success by the MCU or J. K. R.

The debate about wheather Dune is Sci-Fi or Fantasy, could be discussed (just as with Star Wars) but the biggest issue about this film should rather be on what it is not. And in my opinion that is a well-scripted movie ... or well cut rather.

It is seldom you see the differnce between 1st and 2nd unit filming, but in this movie it's very obvious and at many occations it gets so confusing and frustrating to watch the obvious intentional choice to NOT use any similar scenes as in the 80s movie Dune.

Sure, the training scene with the personal shields could not be removed - as it is so crucial to the story - but other parts are just plainly ignored only because the earlier movie had focused to much on those parts.

Therefore the true backstory is ignored, about what Spice is and what it is used for. This would be equal to not telling the story about why Harry Potter had a scar in his forehead.

I do enjoy parts of the movie, but for most I am utterly disappointed with this rendition. It feels to pretentious and too much focused on !make it different than the earlier movie".

But the biggest disappointment comes in the end .. with the almost abrupt cliff hanger, that makes the audience almost wake up from a trance from a snap of the fingers. It's so abrupt and in the middle of a scene that becomes sadly unfinished and lacks all logic.

If other movies that were split into several parts - in order to make more revenue for the investors - there has for most parts been an event or a scene that did not just end in the middle of a take or almost mid-sentence.

Do still enjoy Dune, but be aware if you have wwatched the earlier renditions ... this is NOT similar. It's more of a chaotic mix of different intentions .. with no structure or artistic context that you can expect to follow.

    Should have been a series...!
I wish Dune could have continued as a series! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Something about this movie feels real. (Regardless of the sci-fi setting) I know the movie is very long, but it is very worth the watch. I'll admit this movie, does have a few slow points; but it always pulled back in surprising fast. Dune is a true experience. If you are willing to devote the time and focus to this movies, I truly believe you will not regret it. The directing, setting, acting, and story are truly phenomenal from start to finish. I loved the mysterious plot, gorgeous setting, and compelling characters. Highly underrated in my opinion....
