Good for kids... maybe not for adults
Hocus Pocus 2 is a family friendly tale about the Sanderson sisters - witches that were banished in the 90's... that through a black flame candle being lit during halloween find themselves being resurrected and cause havoc on the small town of Salem.

I have never seen the original film, and as far as kids films go this was passable. The performances from the 3 witches were pretty good and it was fairly entertaining, despite its cliche plot. My daughter loved this film, but for me it felt a bit 'straight to video', if you know what I mean? It's perfectly watchable, and I guess serves its purpose...but for me it was fairly forgettable...

10/10 for the sake of the Sanderson Sisters
Hocus Pocus 2 delivers a spellbinding experience that brings us back to the iconic Sanderson sisters from 1993. The cast was alright, but it's undeniable that the true stars were the three witches. The concept of the movie didn't quite hit the mark for me, but I was absolutely thrilled to see Winifred, Sarah, and Mary return to the screen.

What truly makes this film special is the sisterly love that the Sanderson sisters share. Their bond is their most important asset, and it's beautifully portrayed throughout the movie. I was brought to tears during the emotional scene where Sarah and Mary disappeared, and Winifred begged them not to go. The depth of their connection is truly touching.

Additionally, the moment when Book shed a tear and Billy could finally rest was incredibly heartwarming. These moments added a layer of emotion that made the film more meaningful.

However, I must admit that I wasn't a fan of the new actors in the cast. They could never replace the originals, and it was the Sanderson sisters who were the true highlight. Despite this, I'm giving Hocus Pocus 2 a 10/10 rating because of the sheer magic that Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy brought to their roles. They are the essence of Halloween, and it was wonderful to see them play their iconic characters one last time.

This film serves as a fantastic farewell to the Sanderson sisters, and it reaffirms Hocus Pocus as the best Halloween movie of all time. I love these sisters dearly, and they will forever remain a timeless Halloween tradition.

Nothing much innovative, very nostalgic, fulfills its role and entertains...
29 years since the Black Flame Candle was last lit, the 17th century Sanderson sisters are resurrected and are out for revenge. Now it's up to three high school students to stop the hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of destruction on Salem before dawn on All Hallows' Eve.

I rewatched the 1993 version so I could watch the sequel, and it's just as cute and cuddly as the first one, I've got rhythm, magic and charm, and the little witches haven't changed a bit, the Sanderson sisters still have the same little face... Nothing much innovative, very nostalgic, fulfills its role and entertains...

    A wonderful Sequel surprise!
Sequels always suck but in this case I was wonderfully surprised how well this movie was made. The sequel explained why the sisters had a grudge against the townsfolk of Salem by showing what happened to them when they were young in a hilarious way and how they got their powers. Even though they didn't have Max, Deni or Allison in the storyline the movie still worked for me. The creepy Mayor who was a direct descendant of a reverend that tried to separate the sisters when they were young to the new introduced character of Gilbert really made the story fun to watch! Of course all 3 witches are back including the loveable Billy Butcherson character that had his mouth sewn shut and can't seem to keep his head on his body. All in all it was a delightful movie for me to see and I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole movie. As a witch I actually like this story line better than the original even though it really stereotyped witches in the worst possible way but hey, this is Disney, and this movie was a fun story to watch during Halloween. Maybe the 3 new teen witches can show the townsfolk that witches are actually kind of fun to hang around with when they have a good heart, only time will tell.

Fantastic! Excellent cast, funny script, great plot.
I found the first one almost unwatchable and could not understand how something that lame (excepting total fun pros Bette, Kathy, and Sarah) became a beloved fave. The sequel was a big surprise, it is a blast. Thank goodness it leaned all the way into the best thing about the original-the Sanderson Sisters themselves-featured Bette singing (always a huge treat), and had a strong and funny cast from top to bottom. It also handled the evil/revenge/origin tale with a great and logical resolution, not an easy task given the, um, uncomfortable fact that the sisters were, in fact, child killers in the original. Director Anne Fletcher and writer Jen D'Angelo nailed it. Production design and costumes are spot on. This one is sweet, funny, and delightful, and I'd love to see a prequel with the kids who play the sisters in the beginning.

Exactly what you'd think it would be: A woke, flippant cash-grab sequel to a 90's classic
This film is every bit as a desperate act of attention as anything released featuring a Kardashian. This movie has the feeling that a bunch of washed-up actresses got together with the sole purpose of reliving the glory days.

There are a few, VERY few moments of actual humor, scenes that are few and far between the scenes of modern "humor" that applies only to the socially weak and technologically dependent audience of today.

It's a sad remake of such a classic that so many of us grew to love in the 90's, do yourself a favor and stay away from this film, as it is not worth it. Stick with the original plan.
