Pandoi90 - 1 March 2024 Uplifting comedy with a razor's edge of fun Decided to finally watch Metal Lords, and loved every moment of the high school comedy and great rock dreams. Some skilled music playing and great metal tracks as well as touching emotional acting and meaningful moments. A pleasure to watch and laughed and smiled at it.
Soundtrack is great. Acting excellent.
The unexpected twists will make you laugh and cry, and groan at people's stupidity as well as people's kindness. Great live music atmosphere moments caught well too.
How in earth did I not see this when it came out!
So many music references and different youth and music lifestyles mixing, and inspirational too.
Right, I have my metal homework list to work through.
scanlan20 - 10 January 2023 Much Better Than Expected This was sitting in my Netflix list to watch for about 6 months before I decided to use it for background noise while I watched the kid. I ended up liking it a bit too much and probably should have paid closer attention to the mess my kid was making. When I had to stop half way through, I couldn't wait to go back and finish it.
There is enough Hollywood clichés to the plot and character arcs to make it mildly predictable. But it is unique enough with the script and dialog to both be funny and entertaining. I liked the focus on the relationships of the characters and the breaking from the mold of the usual teen coming of age movies.
The acting was very solid, especially from Isis. The music was great, and I was shocked that Hollywood actually did a good job picking out solid metal songs. Then I learned one of heros (Tom Morello) was the music executive producer, which made it all makes sense.
