    First class Sequel
Sonic sequel is the best sequel ever i have ever seen. I thought Robotnik is gonna be back later in the movies. Robotnik is back with new motive and allies to take revenge on the blue hero who is sworn to protect the earth from threat like him .Robotnik actor excels and the new characters were top-notch in their part and they must be hailed as a superior version. The voice actor is catch on and they are very good at understanding each and evry part of the game to the big screen. This movie and sequel is loved by everyone in the corner of the world. It recieves lots of love and they are superior in term of its writings.

Marvelously entertaining, a joyful blend of action, humor, and heart
Setting aside the fiasco of the title character's design, and of how the animation studio was treated, the first movie was an unexpected treasure. In a world where videogame films have long been infamous for low quality, 'Sonic the Hedgehog' was a welcome breath of fresh air in its smart blend of action and humor. As the same creative team and cast return for the sequel alongside some new additions we could be assured of getting more of the same mix of lighthearted wit and silliness, more somber beats and action sequences, heartfelt storytelling, and plentiful references, especially to Sega's classic games. With some extra helpings of kid-friendly juvenile comedy and irreverent, abject cartoonishness among all else, this 2022 flick quickly establishes that it is indeed cut from the same cloth, and it's a lot of fun right from the start. I assumed I'd like it, and 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' does not disappoint!

Everyone on hand had their work cut out for them, particularly the animation houses and effects artists who brought Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and all the most fantastical elements of computer-generated imagery to bear. Be that as it may, such bits look as realistic and believable as they could, and more to the point, it's hard not to imagine that all involved were having a blast in putting this picture together: from top to bottom it's filled with animated performances, high energy, and highfalutin antics that speak to a joyful, carefree sense of living in the moment and embracing the spirit of it all. Among the live-action cast new supporting co-star Natasha Rothwell unquestionably steals the show from even returning James Marsden and Tika Sumpter, though make no mistake that Jim Carrey is definitely living his best life as Dr. Robotnik; with his knack for wild facial expressions and unfailing weirdness, this is the Carrey we know and love. Ben Schwartz once again breathes splendid life into Sonic with his voice, and among other voice actors like Donna J. Fulks and Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Idris Elba is clearly reveling in the personality he gets to embody with Knuckles. Even the folks who contributed to the costume design, hair, makeup, and props made the most of the license they were given (both proverbially and literally), and the sets and digital environments are superb.

This is to say nothing of the myriad sly references to Sega's landmark franchise, the great excitement of the action sequences, and the wonderful, sheer cleverness of the screenplay assembled by John Whittington and returning writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller. The dialogue, characterizations, and scene writing are all chock-full of tongue-in-cheek vitality, and the plot and the feature as a whole lean even more into the fanciful, free-wheeling flippancy of Saturday Morning and all the playfulness that can be summoned by centering a fast-talking, sharp-witted blue hedgehog. The title cheerfully toys even with its sound, and the use of popular songs; Robotnik's big villainous move in the last act is paired with an especially fabulous choice. This is hardly to count out Tom Holkenborg's original score, deftly matching every mood, and at its most sweeping, ponderous, and dramatic the themes would fit right in with the most big-budget action blockbusters of modern cinema. Somewhat emphasizing the point, between the course of events here and the introduction of new friends for Sonic, there is no small sense of kinship with the bloated superhero saga of Marvel - but thankfully trimmed, concise, and more self-aware. Some small moments plainly echo and/or best like odds and ends in more celebrated pieces, whether in their action, in their comedy, or in their wholehearted earnestness, while certainly staking its own territory.

The result of all this is a marvelously entertaining picture that in my opinion quite stands shoulder to shoulder with its predecessor. Every now and again I had my doubts; some of the frivolity is a tad too childish for its own good, and I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder if two hours wasn't still a tad excessive for something of this tenor. And still, when all is said and done, 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' is stupendously well-rounded, benefiting from all the utmost skill, intelligence, and care of contributors who knew how important it was to make something enjoyable, but also to make it matter in a manner that would endure. From one person to the next all are to be congratulated for turning out another total gem, not least filmmaker Jeff Fowler whose vision helped to shape the second into a reverie worthy of the first. I had mixed expectations when I sat to watch and I'm very pleased that they have actually been exceeded; to whatever extent I found myself thinking, at one point or another while watching, that this didn't quite match the antecedent, by the time the ending rolls around I was completely sold. Opinions will vary and we all have our personal preferences, and I will say that even for all my praise I don't necessarily think this is an absolute must-see. If you do have the chance to check it out, however, and you like what the movie entails, then I'm happy to give 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' my high recommendation!

Good for little kids, 80's kids will sigh
    Pros:
    • Film quality is great
    • CG graphics are top budget
    • Kids should be entertained with lots of action

    Cons:
    • Sonic looks good, but has no attitude. Instead the writers gave him cheesy wisecrack lines. Never acts cocky. Never gets impatient and taps his foot. Never eats chili dogs. Claims Knuckles has "anger issues". Why not hire Jaleel White, the original voice?

    • Robotnik is way off. Carrey plays himself in an Eggman costume. This Eggman is not fat, or round as his name implies. He has zero similarity to Robotnik. Doesn't sound or speak like him, doesn't refer to any other characters or align with his past journeys. Why not hire Mike Pollock, the original voice?

    • Political tropes force-written into the script. White men are all stupid, bumbling, weak, and clueless. Human marriage is key to the plot and has nothing to do with the Sonic universe. Writers equivalate wedding rings to be synonymous with Sonic rings which shows how little they understand the original material.

    • Knuckles look excellent, but has a weird accent that sounds like James Earl Jones with down syndrome. I think they were going for tribal islander style accent but it hits wrong. Also lip sync is off.

Not much from the Sega games is in this movie except for Green Hill. Things nobody asked for:
    • Humans and marriage
    • Siberian log cabins
    • Siberian dancing
    • Bank robberies
    • Federal agents
    • Choreographed dance numbers
    • 70s Hip Hop / 60s Classic Rock music
    • Dated slang, and dead memes

Things in the movie 80s kids may remember:
    • Sonic
    • Tails
    • Knuckles
    • Shadow
    • Chaos emerald

    Ideas taken from other movies:
    • Stay Puft trope from Ghostbusters
    • Mushroom Kingdom from Mario Bros.

    • Rolling cave boulder from Indiana Jones
    • Magneto's powers from X-Men
    • Temple design from Tomb Raider

    Things missing from this movie:
    • No core characters from the games/cartoons
    • No 80's music, or familiar 8-bit chiptune songs from game
    • No memorable game worlds (beside Green Hill)
    • No bots returning to animals when freed
    • No familiar sound FX from the games

    • Obvious errors:
Sonic pulls tape of someone's mouth through a metal grate. Sonic connects USB-C phone cord to a guitar amp. Eye lines don't line up with CG characters. Lip sync is off... etc.

If it's a kids movie, it should be shorter than 2+ hours. If it's for 80s kids, it should use elements from the 80s games. I assume this is why the ratings peak at 6.5.

If the entire film were animated, it might have been better... but the kids will like it regardless. I'd rather have backstage passes to Limp Bizkit.

    Sonic the Hashog
Though the first one was annoying. The first one is still superior.

This review has been typed on. Decem 4 2022.

About: Knuckles randomly shows up and wants revenge on Sonic for really no reason. Eggman returns and he's no Mask but he's a decent vill.

Story and Production: Film starts off letting me know that this movie will be Hash. Sonic did a good job saving the day yet he was teased for it. Minus Sonic the money guard would be 44'd.

That scene was then followed by a very immature "joke" which was followed by another immature few scenes. After that I loss interest. I then regained interest during the wedding scene then after that I gave up.

Production was fine. CGI was well. The movie was a very corny kiddy movie. Even for children standards, this was bad. Children may like it now, tho I guarantee when they are older they and they rewatch this filth they will be embarrassed for liking such foolishness.

    Genre: Superhero

Soundtrack: It had some good tunes.

Highlight: I'm not a Sega or a Sega Genesis fanboy but seeing the Fox, red porcupine and blue hedgepig together was an iconic moment.

Do any worthless mutts appear? Yes. And good gosh, they were ugly. Thankfully, they only lasted 3 minutes. The nutters even put glasses on the worthless mutt, and those didn't help at all.

Is this movie Worthy?: No pun intended to the gate keeper, NO, this movie may not pass.

Main Intelligence: 4. Sonic was a nutter.

Should you watch this? No. But if you have to just watch it for when the critters assemble.

    Where did this come from?
Personally speaking, I am no Sonic fan. I enjoyed the first 2 games as a kid, but after that I lost my care for the character. I saw the 1st movie, and I thought it was good. It was a lot of fun and surprisingly well made. It's the first videogame adaptation that was genuinely good. So when this came out I went in expecting more of the same.

    Oh boy was I wrong...

Tonally speaking it's a pretty unbalanced film. It shifts from silly comedy to grand adventure to intense action, and not always seamlessly. The animation isn't quite as strong this time around, likely due to the increased scale and runtime of the film. Speaking of, it maybe is a little too long. But none of the matters, for you only pick this up in hindsight. At the time, this feels like the greatest movie ever made.

It's a kids film at the end of the day, and it does its job flawlessly and admirably. It is a lot of fun and very funny, both for kids and their parents. It's also fully self aware. It knows how to play to pop culture and all facets of the fandom.

It is also well directed, gorgeous to look at, perfectly acted and strongly written. It's a good film, made by people who wanted to make it as good as it can be. There really isn't anything major to complain about. It is exactly as good as it could have ever been.

Surprising myself, I loved this. It is one of my favourite films I have watched in the past few years. I prefer it to the first film, which I already loved. If you have kids or are remotely curious, watch it.

    A little bit better...
Sonic 2 was a "little bit better" sequel and was a little improvement over the original.

The characters of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were made perfectly. Jim Carrey was still good as Dr. Robotnik/ Eggman, he is still funny and gives a over the top performance that shows he is having fun with it. The action scenes are fun especially the Sonic vs Knuckles fight. The 3rd act is amazing and fun. Also the different locations they go to are nicely shot. The after credits scene is amazing and will get you excited for the future of the Sonic movie series.

The main problem I faced with the movie was it's runtime, pacing and too much simple story. These three things prevented the movie to reach it's true potential. Overall, it was a fun watch.
