arvoksnaedal - 25 May 2024 I can't stop crying Nobody in this poor girls life knows how to treat a teenager. She's blamed and mistreated and finds comfort in this creature she hatched. The creature hurts her neighbors, friends and family for blood but this poor girl has to defend it because it is the only source of warmth. When she finally finds comfort in a human being the creature she hatched destroys this trust. It's tragic. That's the only way I can describe it. Wonderful visuals as well. Although it isn't made clear that the creature needs blood to appear more human, I assumed until the last scene that it became more human because Tinja cared for it, but that's just my mistake.
Hassanfoadi - 21 September 2023 Unique Approach to Horror "Hatching" is a horror film that takes a unique approach to the genre, diverging from the typical goal of simply scaring the audience. Instead, it weaves a complex narrative that gradually peels back its layers, revealing a thought-provoking and mysterious story.
At first glance, 'Hatching' might appear to follow the standard horror movie formula. However, what sets it apart is its commitment to storytelling over jump scares. It takes its time, patiently building an intricate narrative that becomes increasingly intriguing as the plot unfolds.
The performances in 'Hatching' vary in their impact. The girl protagonist, while not always entirely convincing, manages to deliver a noteworthy performance, particularly in scenes involving her doppelganger. In contrast, the mother's portrayal carries the enigmatic core of the film. From the outset, there's a lingering sense that something is amiss with this character, and the actress plays the role of a controlling mother to perfection.
The soundtrack and haunting humming throughout 'Hatching' are pivotal in maintaining a sense of tension and intrigue. The music choices are well-executed, guiding the viewer through the narrative and adding depth to the overall atmosphere. These auditory elements help to elevate the movie and immerse the audience further into its enigmatic world.
Several scenes in 'Hatching' are masterfully designed to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The careful attention to set design and lighting adds to the palpable suspense. Whether it's the confined spaces or the eerie landscapes, each setting contributes to the overall sense of unease, making for a captivating viewing experience.
Hatching' employs symbolism effectively to convey its deeper themes. One striking example is the symbolism of the growing egg, which mirrors the increasing pressure on the girl protagonist. As her mother exerts control, the egg expands, serving as a poignant metaphor for the burdens placed on young shoulders. This symbolism adds layers of meaning to the narrative, making it not just a horror film but also a thought-provoking exploration of familial dynamics.
This is a film that holds a mirror to the pressures parents may unknowingly impose on their children. 'Hatching' subtly portrays the consequences of parental control, serving as a reminder for parents to reflect on their relationships with their kids. It prompts important questions about the fine line between guidance and overbearing influence.
In conclusion, 'Hatching' is a refreshing departure from conventional horror movies, opting for a more intricate and thought-provoking narrative. While some performances may have room for improvement, the film's atmosphere, symbolism, and themes create a captivating viewing experience. I would recommend 'Hatching,' particularly to those who appreciate horror with a deeper layer of storytelling and social commentary.
