Focus on the positive and smile.
This movie is all about what you choose to focus on. Because for every awesome or positive aspect there's an equally opposite terrible or negative aspect. Depending on what stirs your nostalgia, positivity, warmth, and Christmas sentimentality, this will hit you differently. Likewise whatever annoys your sensibilities (continuity, writing, sappiness, production value, etc.) will cause this to land differently. I suggest trying to focus on the positive and let the rest go. It's fun. It's pretty. It's not deep or great art, but not everything can be, and who's expecting such from movies like this? I very much appreciated that there's no religion, no magic, no superstition, not even orphaned or sick kids. The love story was as you'd expect - forced, contrived, and rushed, but it's fine. I appreciated the older cast. It's hard not to find something to like with Brooke Shields and Carey Elwes in the silliest pretense for meeting and late-in-life romancing that I've ever seen. It's set in Scotland so there are gorgeous castles and the Scottish countryside to enjoy. And a dog. And sweet friendship with quirky ladies. Even knitting! It's wholesome and cute. Roll with it and enjoy the smile. 😊

    A Christmas Romance
Brooke Shields is a cultural icon. Cary Elwes will always Wesley from the classic The Princess Bride. Who ever thought about putting them together in a Christmas movie was brilliant. The plot is not important what is important is the chemistry between our leads. The supporting cast is charming and the scenery is amazing. It is a joy to see a slightly older couple find love in a lovely Christmas tale. Will they work out their problems of course, will we end with a kiss and a happily ever after of course don't be an eejit! Pour a wee dram, cuddle up with someone you love and enjoy the romantic journey.

    Cosy
Cosy as f. The esthetics of this movie is out of this world. The beautiful castle looks like someone threw up Christmas at it.

The most funny scene is when the main character is leaving the pub and all her fellow knitters are saying their goodbyes. All of them wearing unbelievably ugly homemade clothes. I laughed so hard.

This is a group of knitters with really bad tastes.

The soundtrack is less fortunate and harder to forgive than the sweaters. Why would anyone want to listen to these versions of lovely songs?

Still the characters are not awful, well played and the storylines are not too bad.

    Beautiful location and scenery.

    Christmas Bride
It is nice to see Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes starring in something. For that alone one might feel nostalgic enough to rate this higher than it probably deserves. Quite a few hiccups and cliches being served along the way. But it is a fun ride you'll get yourself into. Especially because of the actors.

Talking about them, I was quite surprised by Cary Elwes Scottish accent. Now I am not an expert so I wasn't sure how good it actually is - but him being British (which I have to admit - I was not aware of) ... well it does make sense, doesn't it? That aside, this is a romantic comedy so you should know what you let yourself into ... don't blame the movie is what I'm saying ... well maybe you can ... a little bit. Still it has its heart in the right place .. and all that.
