woodandrew-80670 - 7 October 2023 Poor script and acting The Tuscany scenery is the star here, very very well filmed.
Better to just to fast forward through and watch (only) the shots of the countryside. If you cut out the actors/acting part, this would make a great documercial for the region.
Because the script and the acting is really terrible. The script is so dull. The actors seem to have zero emotion or variety of facial expression. Okay, the English language version is dubbed, but why with American accents?!?
Not hard to see why this is a straight-to-Netflix-catalogue-filler. Hard to imagine that the personnel and company involved got anything but a salary cheque out of it.
mbs-50561 - 30 December 2022 Sweet, slow and cosy Yea there are lots of cliches on this film, but I have found it nice and cosy, with beautiful scenery and a sweet and rather naive story. It's one of those films you need when you're not in the mood for something demanding, but more something to relax by. Not master art, but very nice anyway. It's nice to see Anders in more "serious" roles. I get the bad reviews if you expect genious art or mad thrills - but don't; just sit back, make yourself a coffee or cuppa, dish up some snacks and relax. I need more characters to submit this review som I'm just going to end by saying, lower your expectations and just watch.
thepalerider-39646 - 11 July 2022 Only The Scenery Was Good A really bad Hallmark style movie. The lead actor with father issues is totally unlikeable. You just wish he would go away and let Sophia figure out how to run the restaurant after the death of his father. Nice Tuscan scenery though.
elizhinckley - 9 June 2022 Way to make Italy depressing and angry Wow. This has all the pieces to make a good, light romantic comedy. It is none of those--- a bad, heavy, depressing creation that leaves you very confused.
First, the main protagonist is grumpy, rude, dumpy and boring. You have to believe he must be SOME chef for the people around him to put up with this bad behavior regularly in his restaurant and then in Italy. Harder to believe is that a lovely woman about to get married would fall for him based, I guess, on her memories of them as kids? Certainly not based on his lack of charm and conversational ease. And he never really gets any better. Or at least not enough to ever win me over.
Second, who is editing this movie? Shots of the 'chef' cooking are so badly done sometimes it's clear there are two different people. The plot never really explains who Pino is to his soon to be wife until the wedding. And again, the romance is so hard to believe and so badly spliced together. One minute he is an ass, the next they are laughing together. That's a ramp up from negative 0 to 90 without anything in between.
Third, how do you make Tuscany look depressing? That should have at least made this movie worth watching for the scenery. Yeah, not really.
This movie commit the cardinal sin, making a bad movie when you had everything on your side. Wasted time and insulting to the audience.
