A long and uninteresting biopic but a spectacle of a movie
Napoleon by Ridley Scott is an okay biopic about the French emperor, the film isn't historically accurate as explained by multiple historians and Ridley Scott got mad at that. In which I don't know why. The cinematography is nice, giving the film this cold and winter feel to it, and the performances are good as well, with the standout of course being Joaquin Phoenix as the titular Napoleon Bonaparte.

But I feel like I need to address the elephant in the room, this film does not need to be 2 hours and 38 minutes long. I get that Napoleon is an interesting person to make a movie about, but having the movie be that long is outlandish, and I can sit through long movies for example Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon, but unlike those movies, this movie was a slog to get through with scenes feeling like there dragging on forever or unnesscary scenes like Napoleon giving a child his father sword. What was the point of that scene? But that just poor editing on the film ends.

Overall, Napoleon is an unesscary long and okay biopic with great performances by it lead. I would recommend if you're trying to get through some movies for The Oscars, but other than that I don't recommend you spend your time watching this and recommend a better biopic like Oppenheimer if you want a character study of an important historical figure. Dull, boring, slow moving
I was so hoping this would be a great film..the total opposite was true ...it appears dull , uncolurful and the character of Napoleon shows none of the blazing personality with which Napoleon used to capture the heart and soul of the french peoples and army, who choose to follow him anywhere.

This movie is disappointing to say the least Joaquin Phoenix gives a morose portrayal of Napoleon, failing to capture any of the traits which made Napoleon so captivating.

I would think the blame would lie with Ridley Scott's failure to find out more about the character also his lack of understanding of how much of a charismatic and brilliant strategest Napoleon was.

    Totally not worth watching unfortunately..
