Reasons why you should give it a go (no spoilers! :)
It seems that they purposely milked out all the clichés of the romantic / action comedy movies: There is a major random twist at the beginning, some funny and great actors, expectable but still hilarious moments, typical 'villains', a little bit of 'jealousy', a guy that wants to be the hero, a women that's battling with something and looking for a way out and of course the always underrated hilarious friend!

Throw that with great cinematography in the mix and you have a fun, hilarious movie which is amazing to watch nevertheless it can be a bit 'cheesy' at times and for sure there are some hit and miss moments, but those 'miss moments' actually seemed done on purpose, in the "it's so bad that it's good" kinda way!

I disagree with the reviews saying Pitt should've had a bigger part, I actually thought it was funny that he was only there for that time being and it was quite refreshing (especially in this genre) that a romance between two leads wasn't the main focus all movie. Curious what I mean with this? Give it a watch yourself :)

All in all I had put a 7 but after writing this changed it to an 8 because I do think it deserves it, I laughed out loud a couple of times and if you don't take yourself, life and this style of movies too seriously, you will too!

Poor story and and horrible direction
This is a classic case where you can see that poor story and bad direction can not replaced by high end talented actors and actresses.

No matter how many brilliant actors or actresses you use if you can not do the basic thing by selecting a good story or if you are totally clueless on directing, the movie will end up as a flop.

Daniel Radcliffe was somewhat impressive and Channing Tatum was trying his best to make it a palatable movie but Sandra Bullock wasn't even trying I guess.

There were some on and off moments where you feel like you should give a try until the end but overall the flow was painfully awful.

    Watch Romancing The Stone
The creativity cupboard in Hollywood must be completely bare. Aside from a very brief Brad Pitt cameo this is just a joyless turgid experience. I've no idea who thought Channing Tatum was leading man material. He isn't. He's absolutely devoid of any charm and has zero comedic skills.

It's incredulous that anyone working on this film was doing good work. As for Sandra Bullock she appears to have been making pretty much the same film her entire career. Without being disrespectful she's getting a bit long in the tooth for these roles. I really hope she gave the soft focus lense guy a healthy tip for his work on this fiasco. Finally little Daniel Radcliffe still struggling to convince us all that there's more to him than the Harry Potter films. Sadly there isn't. Not that he needs it but fair play to him for still being able to pick up pay cheques by turning up in films.

    Bullock and Pitt Having Fun
Sandra Bullock is the best since Lucille Ball at physical-comedy-shows-personality and she demonstrates it here, but the joy is how great Brad Pitt is at farce, including a bit after the credits roll. The comedy and romance are understated, perhaps too much, and the violence is not to be taken seriously. This is just a couple of great actors having fun for our enjoyment.

I'd happily see this again at home in preference to anything showing at my local mega-theater. We are awash in imperfect movies this year, so this movie stands taller than it might in a more shining era, but a benefit of the deluge is that there are some good movies, such as this one, even in underrepresented niches such as romantic comedy. If you like heroines you can laugh with, you'll probably like this movie.

    So disappointing
I had such high hopes with such a stellar cast. Not one moment of this film was entertaining or funny. I was waiting for it to get good and I was left confused at the end. How did this get such good reviews? The age gap between the two actors is too high. It was middle aged woman meets young man to make her whole again. Sandra Bullock's character wasn't likeable and had no personality. It was like watching the reality of how sad being middle aged is - I am middle aged. We don't want to see failed middle aged. I either want to see tragic middle aged with honestly and depth, or heroic middle aged, but older miserable middle aged woman bagging a young man is not motivating at all! What was that??

For fans of the adventure genre.
If you like the adventure genre with a bit of humorous scenes, in the style of Indiana Jones, Jewel of the Nile, or Romancing the Stone, you will definitely enjoy this one as well. The Lost City is very easy to watch, a perfect popcorn movie, with some mild but good action scenes and funny situations. The chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum worked well. Their bickering made the movie funny. Daniel Radcliffe wasn't bad either but it wasn't his best performance. As for Brad Pitt he's always fun to watch, even in a smaller role like he had in this movie. The rest of the cast was also entertaining to watch. Of course you have some cheesy moments, like most of the time in this genre, but it's almost to be expected in this case.

    Just didn't work
I'm sure if it was the script, the directing or the lead actors, but this just didn't click for me. I'm fine with a remake of Romancing the Stone, but those are big shoes to fill and this one failed on main levels.

The leads seemed to lack the chemistry needed and although on a tropical island, the film just wasn't exotic or exciting. At one point there was a car chase and people were crawling on a truck and I noticed I was just bored by it. Although on paper it all sounds like fun, it simply didn't work for me and I'm a big fan of Sandra Bullock. Wish I could clarify it better and I hope she'll continue to make romantic comedies, but something here isn't working.
