    The line between bias and deception can be fine
    THE SLEEPLESS UNREST: THE REAL CONJURING HOME purports to be a documentary about the house in which supposed events occurred which inspired the hit movie THE CONJURING (2013).

    When I first sat down to watch it, I thought this was going to be a mockumentary. There are plenty of mockumentaries which purport to be "real" but give clues to the audience that they don't take themselves seriously as real documentaries: even though they purport to be "real", they do not do this at a meta level, so to say. A good one I watched recently is FAKE BLOOD (2017). Not UNREST, though, and that is my biggest problem with it.

    Yes, it is not great as entertainment: not much really happens, and there is always an element of plausible deniability as to whether some phenomenon really has a supernatural origin or not, but that is in my view not as important as that in the end, the film sells itself seriously as a real documentary. I think that is not okay.

    I have no idea about whether the phenomena it shows are staged, or whether they represent events interpreted by confirmation biased mindsets that jump to paranormal explanations first, but once a film purports to be a work of fact, entirely different ethical standards apply and I feel this movie fails to uphold them.

    I would not recommend this film primarily for that reason, even though viewers are bound to get little entertainment value out of it.

    No ACTION AT ALL! BORING AF!
    This movie was FREE to watch, and feel they OWE ME MONEY for wasting my time! More action on SAM and COLBY's YOU Tube visit of CONJURING HOME! ANY PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION THIS LOUSY becomes a film???? Whatever! Mock my words! Don't waste YOUR TIME!
