Almost great fun except but fell far short for me
The acting wasn't great The effects were good. It was a fun story line. It was more geared towards a family with older children due to some scary elements. Unfortunately, I'm gluten free, not by choice but because of health problems and I have to raise children that way as well. The food I make and buy at bakeries isn't always disgusting. The mother just wasn't good at baking gf. This theme in movies making it out as if gluten free is unnecessary and a joke is making it so much harder for people raising their children this way. How would you feel having your lifestyle and who you are always being turned into a joke?

    Has potential
"The Curse of Bridge Hollow" is a Halloween movie that had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, the lead character's acting left much to be desired. The film's storyline and setting had all the elements of a classic spooky tale, but the girl portraying the lead character lacked the depth and emotion needed to bring the character to life.

Throughout the movie, it was evident that the lead actress's performance was stiff and lacked the naturalness required to make the audience connect with her character. Her expressions often felt forced, and her delivery of lines appeared robotic at times. This stiffness in her acting was distracting and took away from the overall enjoyment of the film.

It's worth noting that the success of a horror movie often hinges on the audience's ability to empathize with the protagonist and share in their fear and anxiety. Unfortunately, in "The Curse of Bridge Hollow," the lead actress's portrayal hindered this crucial connection. It became challenging to invest in her character's journey when her acting felt detached and mechanical.

In conclusion, while "The Curse of Bridge Hollow" had the potential to be a memorable Halloween movie, the lead actress's stiff acting was a notable drawback. It's clear that she could benefit from acting lessons to improve her performance and bring more authenticity to her characters in future projects. Her performance in this movie, unfortunately, hindered its overall impact and enjoyment.

It's an empty attempt to deliver something silly and fun but forgets to have those key ingredients.
At least "The Curse of Bridge Hollow" has the good grace to keep itself contained to under 90 minutes. Wayans is Howard, an uptight Dad who is moving his family into a new home in the town of Bridge Hollow. His wife, Emily (Kelly Rowland) and his teenage daughter, Sydney (Priah Ferguson) in tow, they discover right away that this town is OBSESSED (and will later be "possessed") by the Halloween spirit.

Their neighbor (an amusing Rob Riggle) has decked out his entire lawn, and has invented a clever scare for any kiddos reaching in to get candy out of the coffin in his front yard.

Taking a page from nearly every other Halloween film, the family's house is cursed, and there is only one specific day where a special ritual must be performed in order to get rid of the ancient haunts for good. These ghouls begin possessing all of the Halloween decorations in town, and can always be identified by their glowing red eyes.

This movie belongs to Sydney, who befriends some paranormal-loving kids in the town as they try to fight this unspoken evil. But much of her time is spent trying to convince Dad to take a leap away from his rigid science-based beliefs. Not exactly the right sort of message one wants to send in this day-and-age, but OK.

There aren't many laughs, nor are there many scares. But everyone seems to be having a good time. "The Curse of Bridge Hollow" is harmless...not exactly what a Halloween movie aims to be...but it just doesn't do enough to make itself stand-out in any way.

If anything, it is an effective cautionary tale about the dangers of over-doing your home in Halloween decorations, which I guess, is a worthy-enough message that I hope makes a difference.

Keep Politics Out of Kids Movies
I wanted to like this movie. It has a Wayans in it and the girl from Stranger Things. I expected a fun family romp, and it was. But...the racial jokes start off almost right away and are completely unnecessary. They move away from them a bit as the movie progresses, but they're just not appropriate or necessary.

Aside from that, it was just ok. It feels like it's goofy and directed at littler kids but it has some pretty scary characters later that might be a bit much for littler audience members. It definitely won't be a Halloween classic but it was a fun one to watch once and move on to something else. If it wasn't for the racist/political jokes it would have gotten several more stars.

    Halloween Decorations Come to Life
This was a fun and freaky movie. A family from Brooklyn moves during Halloween to small town Bridge Hollow that loves holidays and goes crazy with decorations. The villain Stingy Jack comes back to life and attacks the town by bringing the decorations to life. Jack needs to claim a soul before midnight so he can live forever.

It has good acting, a good soundtrack, and surprisingly good quality cinematography. I was actually impressed with how well it kept my interest. There were creepy scenes with clowns and spiders, while other scenes had me out right laughing.

I personally thought it was a fun Halloween movie for the whole family to enjoy. I would put it into the same category as Hocus Pocus and the Goosebumps movies.
