kjohn-77891 - 8 March 2024 An okay movie but wanted more horror Just finished watching this movie and came away from it thinking it was okay but I wanted more from a movie like this.
I wanted more horror, yes we get to see the grimcutty character but it wasn't scary, I think if they had thought this movie out more then it could have been a much better movie.
I wanted more form the characters, w barely get to see the other characters in the movie, the film was more focused on the main family not the people around them. To make a good story in a movie that sticks in your mind you need to have three dimensional characters and this film didn't have any, in fact we barely saw anyone else in the movie.
Such a waste of talent and script, I hope that next time the film director takes note from previews and gives us a much better movie.
This could have been so great.
CJayCox_Polumathes - 25 July 2023 A New Standard In Borror Have you ever seen a movie that's so unbelievably bad that it's actually kind of ironically enjoyable? That is not this movie. Have you ever seen a movie that's so bad that it actually transcends the "so bad it's good" label and just makes you melt into a great big puddle of cringe? That would be this movie. It is so unbelievably boring, the acting so inconceivably amateur, the writing so unexplainably asinine... I honestly haven't seen something so stupid in some time.
The Grimcutty monster is ridiculous. In fact it's hilarious in its appearance. It looks like an amateur CGI "artists" miserable attempt to create one of the turtles from the 1990's TMNT movie. If I hired somebody to work on my movie and they came up with this ridiculous monstrosity, I would sue them for emotional damage. Twice.
The ASMR thing is vomit inducing. For those who don't know, the main character is an ASMR content creator. And I may just be not very hip with the times, but the idea of ASMR is so cringy. And the fact that this woman can't act makes it cringer, if cringer is even a real word (autocorrect doesn't mind it). It's creepy, but not "oh I'm watching spooky horror movie" kind of creepy, but "oh I have weird fetish for whispering" kind of creepy. I don't like it. Very stupid.
The monster apparently gets it power by feeding off parental fear, so the moral, apparently, is something like "never worry about your kids or you'll make them kill themselves" or some other such nonsense, being obviously written by someone who doesn't have kids or worse someone who's quite bad at raising them. It all starts when a blogger starts suggesting "detoxing" from technology for a short period of time. This crazy, controlling, even fascist behavior (I'm not kidding; the movie describes this behavior as fascist on two, non-consecutive occasions) conjures a demon or something that strikes back at the fascists by cutting kids and sometimes suiciding them. The only way to defeat is either to stop worrying about your kids or for the kids to straight up murder concerned parents (again, not kidding), which movie portrays as something concerned parents deserve. Yes, deserve. So don't take your kids phones or that might have to kill you. Makes sense. If you don't agree, you're a fascist.
Which reminds me; if I hear one more person unironically describe non-fascist behaviors as fascist I might explode. Like just imagine surviving all of the horror of 40's Germany and having some punk tell you that taking their phone is the equivalent of that actual dystopian nightmare that you had experienced. It's legitimately insulting.
The acting is terrible, I may have added, and there are no scares in the whole movie, cheap scares or otherwise. If I could rate this a zero I'd be complaining that this site won't let me rate in the negatives. If I could rate as such, I'd be complaining that such negatives don't go to infinity. There is no ranking to low for this absolute garbage.
0/10. Do not watch.
SamuSixx - 25 February 2023 Meaningless and mostly badly made film Let's start from the premise that I didn't have who knows how many expectations of such a film however, I didn't expect such crap either. I wouldn't even know where to start, nothing is good enough: the plot is terrifying and without the slightest logical sense, the music is not the least bit memorable, the characters are one dumber than the other (typical feature of every horror movie, but in this case we've gone too far),some if not all of the character choices are meaningless, Grimcutty is also "cute" because he's a puppet anyway but okay come on I'll let him get away with that one, otherwise it's a movie without an identity and especially without any logical sense. Throughout the whole movie they don't even explain to us a bit who or what this Grimcutty actually is, which got on my nerves. Very not recommended this film, avoid it like the plague.
olcayozfirat - 17 November 2022 This is not a horror movie It is a so-called horror film made in 2022 to scare the little ones. The character created is a mediocre imitation of "Babadook", one of the scariest movies ever made. Since the movie is made for children, it also includes the sub-text to parents, do not ban your children from computers and phones. But the parents are all wilder and more terrifying than the creature. Creature, on the other hand, is a funny animation rather than a scary one. If you make this creature dance to fast music, the movie becomes a comedy. A situation similar to the game "blue whale" was created once. Spreading through social media and making bad things happen. A disappointing production for horror movie fans.
There is no sex or nudity in the movie.
michaelRokeefe - 30 October 2022 Imagine..it can make it real A suburban family of four is coming to grips with smartphone use. Amir (Usman Ally) and his wife Leah (Shannyn Sossamon) are trying to cut back on their children's screen time and demand on having communication items be put in a locked box. Asha (Sara Wolfkind) is eager gathering an audience for her personal social media channel. Young brother, Kamran, settles for keeping peace with his parents. In the internet world, a disturbing meme named Grimcutty is challenging teens to cut themselves as well as attempting suicide. Asha discovers that the freakish monster is real and has convinced teens to stab and cut themselves and become scared enough to start harming their elders. This film is actually not as bad the previews tend to make you think. But some scenes are disturbing. Grimcutty is played by Joel Ezra Hebner. Creepy!
jdcamero-47762 - 25 October 2022 What's the worst part of this garbage pile? Is it the talentless and unconvincing acting from anyone not named Shannyn Sossamon?
Is it the profoundly unlikable, hyper-dramatic and intolerably hysterical YouTuber wannabe? Maybe it's the psychotic yet white bread mommy blogger?
Is it the lack of any character development whatsoever?
Maybe it's the dumb as rocks idea that parents are the real monster for being concerned about their children. For worrying that their children's brains are turning to mush because of YouTube and ASMR videos. For concern about things like the content their young children are exposed to. That's the groundbreaking idea here.
Equating reasonable concern with abusive parents only confirms that a 12 year old wrote this "movie"
