The right kind of movie for children and family
This film is better than I expected. Although it follows the formula made for feel-good movie for children, it did fall into the right elements. The comedy was entertaining and Uncle Jessy was charming and funny. The girl is right for her role and even the Chinese boy is cute in his own way.

And of course, the BIG RED DOG is super cute. I can imagine using this film with young students to help then learn to love dogs and build up animal-loving spirit. The CG was so neat and the dog moves and have facial expression like a real puppy. It can catch the heart of all dog lovers watching this film, I'm sure. And children will fall in love with Clifford and begin to love dogs too.

The theme is simple: love animals and all the people that are different from you. Scientists and greedy business people can be evil but the people can stand up against them and win. It is a positive and feel-good movie, following cliche formula and having Hollywood ending, a bit too good to be true, but for this genre of film, it works. This is how young children in early age should be taught. It is the right kind of attitude that they should learn to have. I encourage parents to watch this one with your children and they will learn to love and be kind to dogs, eventually to all human and other beings, too.

    Pleasantly Surprised
Often Kids movies fall flat for either know ds or adults, or both, which is what makes movies like "Toy Story" so remarkable, as it finds a way to appeal to both. This movie is no Toy Story, but it kept the 5 year old both laughing and interested, and there were a few funny adult moments as well as a cute big red dog. Much better than just something slapped to get her on a premise and hey the kids will laugh. Acting was fine, sure some of it was hokey and contrived, but hey it is a movie about a giant red dog. This character limit is more than a bit much, just adding filler now...

I give it a solid seven, pleasantly surprised.
