Falko_h1 - 25 June 2024 A mixed bag of thrills "Five Nights at Freddy's," based on the popular video game series, attempts to bring the horror and suspense of the game to the big screen. Directed by Emma Tammi, the film centers on a security guard who takes a night shift job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, only to discover that the animatronic mascots come to life and have sinister intentions.
The film excels in creating a tense atmosphere, with the dark and eerie setting of the abandoned pizzeria playing a crucial role. The animatronics are brought to life with impressive special effects, and their creepy, mechanical movements effectively induce fear.
However, the plot feels somewhat thin and predictable, lacking the depth and complexity that could have elevated the movie. The characters, including the protagonist, are not fully fleshed out, which makes it difficult to invest in their fates.
While fans of the game may appreciate the faithful adaptation of the source material's atmosphere and scares, "Five Nights at Freddy's" struggles to stand out as a memorable horror film. It delivers some thrills but ultimately falls short of its potential.
celticsfan-72909 - 11 June 2024 I mean, wow This movie was pretty dumb all the way through. If this was adapted from something I never heard of, cool, but nonetheless it was stupid.
So many questions.
First, why is an old, run down pizza place need security when it's abandoned?
Why would this guy keep going back there after seeing what's happening, and why on Earth would people break in to loot something that's been abandoned since the 80's?!
I'm not sure if this movie is supposed to be a comedy, or horror because it's that bad.
Now I can see why it's a cast of nobodies in this movie. No actor in their right mind would have read this script and auditioned lol!!!
Save yourself the time and hard pass this one folks.
ratuswinter - 22 May 2024 Amazing Movie Five Nights at Freddy's is a video-game adaptation of the game by the same name, and was very highly anticipated for several years. And, for the most part, I think this movie delivered.
Even if you didn't like this movie, you have to agree that the opening was amazing. We get a short introduction, both to the main character and the film's main antagonists. The rest of the film is also pretty good - especially the robbery scene.
My only criticism would be the animatronics' friendliness in the fort-building sequence. Even though it seemed a bit strange, I can still let it off since it is canon game-lore that the animatronics would do this.
Overall, pretty good movie.
corvus1000 - 17 April 2024 Disappointing, but not trash TL;DR: disappointing with some commendable aspects, mostly filled with predictable jumpscares, a predictable plot, and some incredibly stupid moments.
I came into the movie giving it the benefit of the doubt, hoping that even though the FNAF has always been aimed at younger people and relied on suspense for its scares, the movie would still be an enjoyable one for long term fans who were now adults. I came out of the movie feeling disappointed.
From start to finish, the movie was very predictable in most aspects. While there were a few commendable intense moments, by and large the movie was far too sanitized and child-friendly for me to find it satisfying. There were also some moments in the movie that were so unbelievable stupid that I'm surprised that they were put in the movie, because they were completely unnecessary.
By and large, the movie was boring and full of cheesy moments.
