More cheese than a French Wine bar
Okay! Let's start with the good stuff. It started okay, but I seem to have suffered from deva vu. There were a lot of familiar sequences in this hocum fun.

Travelling through the moon: Star Treck The Movie.

The moon skimming earth: Independence Day Resurgence.

The Chrysler Building: The Day After Tomorrow.

The opening attack on the space shuttle: Armageddon.

    Dr Houseman's reincarnation: Transcendence.

Look, it's okay to be inspired by other movies but these were almost mirror images of them. Still, it was an enjoyable way to waste a couple of hours.

There was no real depth to the characters. We were offered a xx years later scenario that failed to explain how Halle Berry (Jocinda) and Patrick Wilson's (Brian Harper) marriage failed.

Did Brian and his ex get back together. How will John Bradley (Dr Houseman) now control the moon megastructure? It was all too open, almost like 'Let's just finish the movie and move on' carelessness.

Fun but could have been way better.

Not the Independence Day you are hoping for...
Roland Emmerich directed "Independence Day" which is one of my favorite Si Fi alien films and a very iconic film of 90's. I still remember i was only 8 years old when I saw Independence Day on a VHS with my dad, That big spaceship revel above New York city, what a great memory.

But since then, all his films have been very disappointing, as a filmmaker he has not evolved and he's still making films like he made in the 90's.

The story is mediocre and at times very Chessy.

I sincerely hope that Emmerich starts evolving his film making before studios stop giving him films, the overall plots of his films are still interesting as far as Si Fi alien films are concerned, if he can bring some changes to his technique of storytelling and higher better script writers then I don't see why Emmerich can't make a comeback.
