    See the Original
When the motion picture meets the definition of soporific yet has dozens of "9+" reviews, then you know the studio is the one contributing the reviews....especially when the tone and style of the reviews are all so similar. The film's plot--if there is one at all--advances at an amateur's rate testing, daring, irritating the viewer to finish it. Very good cinematography effectively ruined by a non-plot. Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell star in the tale's original and is much more worth your time as they capture the essence of the period engrossing the viewer as opposed to boringly anesthetizing him. Skip.

    Rather enjoyable, but little soulless
I watched this film in just the right mood. It didn't offer anything new, but it was entertaining and well made. Still, the film left me feeling a little empty. Stylish, but... Still, the film didn't really have a soul. Maybe I've seen too many similar films. I usually criticise poorly made studio staging, but it suited this film. The staging was clearly intended to create a theatrical, magical and fairytale like atmosphere. It worked for me.

It's was still a good winter evening pastime. It was freezing outside, windy and snowing. Inside, candles were burning and there was a peaceful atmosphere. All in all, the atmosphere was a bit like the end-part of the film.
