Prismark10 - 28 December 2023 Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway The first movie was hip but I felt it was far from the spirit of the book. Of course it was made by Americans and American money.
The sequel has Bea (Rose Byrne) and Mr Thomas McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) getting married. He wants his own family and still views Peter Rabbit (James Corden) as a naughty rascal.
While Peter has had enough of getting told off and viewed as a troublemaker. So he runs off when Bea and Mr Thomas McGregor go to town to meet a slimy book publisher Nigel Basil-Jones (David Oyelowo.) He believes that with a few changes, the Peter Rabbit stories could be a global hit with merchandising opportunities.
Peter meets an older rabbit called Barnabas who claims to have known his father. Together they get into all kinds of mischief.
Later Barnabas and his crew tell they want Peter's help as well as his other friends to rob the farmers market, with a big score of dried fruit.
Strangely I thought the sequel was better and found the whole thing zippy, silly and rather delightful. It even makes a self reverential joke about the impact of big money taking the stories from its original spirit.
isaacochoterena - 24 January 2022 Soulless This movie is the same as the previous one, only this one has a message in between.
I found the story boring and incongruous, without much depth and without much development. The acting improves a bit, the CGI also improves, but repeating the jokes more than twice is still tedious and takes the fun out of the joke. There never seems to be an antagonist, and characters who appear to be antagonists have zero development.
In this sequel it tries to improve in terms of story, but it does not succeed, it also tries to reduce the jokes, but now it is boring to watch, so it is a movie that is on the same level as the first one, they only improve the CGI, everything else remains the same.
