An exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean of a daring research team spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.
captandave - 12 June 2024 Waste of movie making talent and money There was no suspense since they tried to pack way to much in. The comedy relief stuff they added in the original Meg was bad and made the movie much less realistic but this was much worse. Its a shame when bad script and directing is wasted because if it had been done correctly could have been magnificent movie. You have terrorist, a giant squid, dinosaur lizards, and 3 megs bent on not just eating (which we know that is all they would be concerned with) but destroying everything. Sharks are very concerned for there own safety which is why there eyelids close when attacking things. They are non indiscriminate eating machines. Having them going after whales like in the original Meg was on point and in Meg 2 having them attracted to a pod of dolphin's made sense but their was very little that made sense overall all here.
Why not have giant piranha, and aliens too as if a 60 foot Megalodon is not enough to extract some terror. The acting was mediocre but it was mainly the roles that made the acting seem bad. Having a gang banger type as part of the scientific research party: thanks Hollywood. I guess they are trying to appeal to all parties but that result is in dumbing down the topic which in itself a really interesting prehistoric monster sized shark. It was enjoyable seeing the bad guys get taken out by the creatures and the scenery was beautiful at the island and underwater.
I am not a writer but I know I could come up with a better story than this if I spent several nights using my imagination.
damodara_and_radha - 3 May 2024 The scriptwriters really phoned this one in The first Meg film was watchable. This was a very lazy follow up. It doesn't feel like the scriptwriters even attempted to create a worthy narrative - perhaps complacent and overly confident that audiences would naturally watch the sequel. The visuals were OK although the megs looked fake. The underwater physics were all wrong - ie lack of crushing pressure at 25000 feet down. Boulders falling underwater without resistance except for one isolated incident. Bad guys just turning up without any rationale. Very formulaic. Was the script written by A. I.? And then not vetted by humans. The director and cast must be embarrassed. They should be.
