natalydumont - 20 May 2024 Marvel = McDonalds Same formulaic mix of tired tongue in cheek "humour" in inappropriate moments to "lighten the mood" with bad CGI and gluttonous fight scenes. It worked 20 years ago and now it's the same thing over and over and over again. Every race, black, white, Asian, anything. They're the same character. It's the same movie. We need to start standing up to this fast-food type of flick they force feed us every summer. Disney buying Marvel was the death knell. Boring and bland. Zero creativity. Nothing to look forward to. Just hype like the McRib sandwich. Palatable to 10 years old ONLY, like the whole dollar menu.
EyeSeesMovies - 23 December 2023 Meh Just did not do it for me. Obvious CGI within the first 5 minutes. Storyline boring/ the mom went for the bad boy of her own volition, then she died. The bad boy clearly loved her, because he tried the save her in her afterlife and not to mention, he changed for her. The only time it was expressed that hat he was was being misled, was after battle had begun. Sis ran away because why? The BFF was kinda annoying and honestly, the lead actor was kind of stale. Overall, my opinion is that the plot needed more than work. Probably lowest Marvel movie on my list. Character limit being met now hfjfkh.
KFstudios2009 - 25 August 2023 Action Movie Goes Next Level! "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" is the very first installment from the Marvel superhero Shang-Chi. It tell us a story about a child that had a heavy past, his mom died, and his father become a very bad person. This child was Shang-Chi, and when he grew up, he had to stop his father, for his own best. Shang-Chi and his crew are settling on a big adventure were they have to defeat many dangerous things, and stop Shang-Chi's fathers force. This movie was very great. Full of action and many unique fighting/material arts technics that looked very good on the screen. The fighting was planned, dynamic, and the martial arts looked just amazing. The visuals and the ten rings looked good too, with amazing power scenes and amazing dragons. The dragon was well done, it looked really like an asian traditional dragon. This movie was made like an asian traditional action movie, with some american spices on the side. I liked that very well, because Marvel haven't included asian culture so much, what I think was very cool what they did now. The actors were ok, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi was great and he did his job. Awkwafina was funny, I liked her in here and from Renfield (2023). This movie was a new opportunity to expend the Marvel universe, I can't wait to the sequel, I hope it is going to be as much entertaining as the first one.
exceladeogun - 20 November 2022 A visual treat! Visually stunning and profoundly entertaining. Shangchi and the Legend of the ten rings works with a formulaic plot, but this is brought to life with a very distinct and I daresay one of the best cinematography from Marvel. Visuals are very colourful and well-done, same as its locations and costumes; it also boasts one of the best Marvel fight scenes and choreography (I personally think the best). There is also a balance between the funnier first half and the more serious tone of its second half. The final act is grand and the CGI is beautiful to watch.
The only misses this movie has are in how the ten rings (the organisation) is portrayed (we don't really see the impact the organisation holds), and the scale of the number of people involved in the battle between Ta Lo and The ten rings is also not well-done (it's too small.)
ralphhelm-69745 - 16 October 2022 Not so legendary after all As long as today's "consumers" rate movies like this or the Fast & Furious franchise higher than a seven, often stating "the best movie evvvvaaaa", the longer Hollyweird will churn out these CGI-bad-script-bad-acting-run-of-the-mill turds.
In the 70s and 80s movie budgets hardly ever exceeded the cost of 20 million USD, most of them being even below 10. So why do we still watch the original Star Wars, Jaws, Rocky, Rambo, Terminator, Aliens, The Exorcist, The Godfather, Dirty Harry etc.?? Because they were well written, well directed and the actors told us a story with talent (and not opinion). How many cult classics sometimes came out the same year? Now Hollyweird is so low on ideas and inspiration that all they can do is plagiarize themselves by rebooting and remaking everything that made their grandeur in the past .... and fail miserably for the same reasons. Oh, and if you dare criticise their "product" for not being your taste, you are a troll, a fascist, a deplorable.
sjstobo22 - 2 September 2022 Bravo!!! Best Marvel Movie since Infinity War I had to leave a review after seeing some comments about this. First off everyone has a right to an opinion I get that.
This film right here is amazing. I knew nothing about Shang Chi. I knew about the Ten Rings obviously because of Iron Man. So how they were tied together? I was interested to see it. However seeing the trailer did nothing for me, I was like meh about it. Months go by and in the end I thought I might as well watch it, it's part of the MCU if I don't like it then at least I gave it a shot.
2 hours and 15 minutes later and I'm in my living room clapping!!!
The imagery in this film is fantastic, the fighting superb...I love the oriental vibe as I love Star Wars, Japanese/Chinese culture etc.
I kept raving about it afterwards told my brother to watch it. Like me took ages to get round to it but finally did and he was like me thought it was great. Even my 10 year old niece who has no interest in the MCU thought it was great.
Any Marvel fans out there that didn't like it I'm sure they have their reasons.
Can't wait for the sequel and Avengers Secret Wars now!!!
