Doctor Strange, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
yahaira-729-694701 - 22 May 2024 Meh I was hoping for more about the multiverse but its a misnomer. Its Wanda part 2. Monsters chasing teenage girls glad they gave the magic oriented Dr. Strange a mission. The visuals are inspired and psychedelic . I enjoyed this movie for that achievement. The script not so much its boring and simplistic. Maybe good for a 12 year old and scify enthusiasts. It lacks a believable dramatic plot. The characters seem like caricatures of thier previous agendas. Like throwing on some of the X men and Patrick Stewart. Wandavision was an excellant story and the character is now a power hungry witch. Dr. Strange was more of a subcharacter but Wanda the true protagonist who had to re-live her grief. The script is confusing the Latino girl Chavez was to be the victim or sacrifice for what?
studioAT - 8 April 2024 Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness( Not very good.
There we go, there's my review of this film.
I am so bored of Marvel films by this stage. They are all the same, it's all white noise now.
They look like they are made quickly and with no real love put into them. Lots of big name stars just pop up in them for a big pay check, and it's easy work I imagine - just stand by a green screen and look afraid of some pretend beast running at you.
My hope is that one day people will get bored of this type of film too and we can have some variety. Surely they can't still be enjoying this dross time and time again.
With the way Disney and Marvel are churning these out though I might have to wait a while.
slowcando - 4 January 2024 Despite being utter nonsense it's very fun! I'm not into the Multiverse arc as when writers go down that route it means they can't think of anything creative or original within the confines of our own universe (which is already quite limitless).
So we get the Multiverse arc, with the usual doppelgängers of familiar characters in their copy-Earths. It all feels quite small, to be honest. We don't even get an original villain or particularly interesting new characters/species/worlds. Certainly nothing with any depth.
The plot is total nonsense. The motivations of the villain and the deus ex machinas are so blatantly contrived. Yet....
...yet despite these significant issues the movie-experience succeeds in being entertaining & fun. It's a horror-lite action piece, like if Evil Dead had a PG-certificate. I wish the producers allowed an actual 18-rated fantasy-horror, or at least 15. The PG-rated stuff we do get however is very well made, there's a bunch of fantastic imagery, exciting pacing, and Liz Olsen - despite her character's questionable motivations, and physically petite frame - manages a magnetic threatening screen presence. Very stylish rather than scary, mind. Shades of Terminator, Apocalypse from X-Men, and even Carrie through to Ultimecia, combine to make a memorable villain. A shame that the plot-resolution is a cheap unimaginative comedown after all that build-up.
Also fine work from the rest of the cast. They all manage to sell us this frankly ridiculous story.
Despite the 8/10, it does feel like the MCU quality is on an inconsistent downward trend from the strong stuff we got in Phases 2 & 3. From Phase 4 I've only watched Shang-Chi (good) & Spider-Man 3 (meh) so far. Not bothering with any more Marvel except Guardians 3. It's been a mostly fun ride since starting with Iron Man 1 back in November, and has been rewarded with a very rare 10/10 in Infinity War. So overall the Infinity Saga is well worth watching in full. The Multiverse Saga? Not really feeling it. And judging by reviews very few of these movies are worth checking out as standalones. Doctor Strange 2 however is highly-recommended for fans of the first one, tho' turn brain off to enjoy more :)
Let's see if Guardians 3 will be a quality farewell to the Marvel universe(s).
jakobszatan - 1 January 2023 This is WandaVision 2 not Doctor Strange 2 This movie has great CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) but it's focused more on Wanda played by Elizabeth Olsen then Doctor Strange. Most people were expecting a good film with a bit more travel in the multiverse. However the actions/fighting scenes are very good the breaks in between are very long and boring, in my opinion there is to much talking. The movie is also a bit of a horror movie when Wanda is included because she is a demon. The movies that lead up to this one are great compared to this one.
-The Spider-Man movie:
It has all the three spider-man's which shows that there is already multiverse travel
You would think that this movie would have a bit more travelling in the multiverse
-Start of the movie:
The movie starts off very interesting and pulls you in with actions
-End of movie:
Has a lot of drama and it ends well with doctor strange reuniting with Christine
In my opinion this movie is alright but it could be better if focused more on Doctor Strange then Wanda.
km-28703 - 13 December 2022 One of the most exciting if not the best movie MCU put out there. After seeing Spider-Man NWH, I felt so hyped to see this movie especially when I heard that Wanda is the villain. It's a great movie with really wonky parts. Not a great follow up to Loki and NWH but it's still fun. I wish that it has more depth to it and also more Madness to the multiverse because they just journeyed through the multiverse. Loki is more mad than this movie. I still appreciate what the movie for Scarlet Witch and the horror easter eggs. Sam Raimi is still amazing as he was. Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely great as Stephen though he wasn't given a lot to do in this film. Peace.
flyonedk - 29 November 2022 Big disappointment This is my first review on IMDB. What to say that others didn't already? It's simply uninteresting. That music fight scene was just sad, painful to watch. This is what Marvel has come to? I enjoyed Marvel universe as it was an escape into a different world, reality like other good fantasy, sci-fi movies, but this one was simply meh... I would really love to see a new Marvel movie with great storyline, effects and with as few political messages as possible. I still need to write stuft to meet the required characters, so I would add that this movie straight up jumps into action without building the story a little, the characters. Don't watch. It's not worth it.
archangestelle - 18 November 2022 I had enough of sympathetic villains let's go back loving selfless heroes The main character was Wanda. Wanda is a villain, and I had enough of movies about villains. Superheroes aren't super anymore, the fight was rather poor. I want to go back to classic heroes, sefless, kind, maybe simple, but true heroes that won't give up and won't give into darkness.
I want good stoires, not CGI fest. The story was helping Wanda, her opponents made inexplicable choises to keep the movie going.
Those people feeling sorry for Wanda just put youself into the place of one of her victims. Chasing happyness made her cruel, and a monster.
I did not watch the Wanda series, I did not watch any of the Disney shows.
A movie about the MULTIVERSE... I expected to see multiple worlds, but we only got one new, and Strange beat up a street food vendor. I wasn't worried about Strange, he is popular, definitely going to get a third movie.
